John Lahr has won a Tony Award as co-author of Elaine Stritch at Liberty; is the recipient of The National Arts Club Medal of Honor for Achievement in Theatre; and authored Tennessee Williams: Mad Pilgrimage of the Flesh, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Sheridan Morley Award for Theatre Biography. He was also a contributor and Senior Drama Critic to The New Yorker for twenty-one years.
