Larry David and David Steinberg in Conversation

Larry David, creator of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and comedian David Steinberg will speak at The Town Hall as part of the 10th annual New York Comedy Festival.

Larry David co-created “Seinfeld,” which debuted in 1989, and went on to become one of the most successful shows in television history. In 1999, David wrote and starred in “Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm,” a one-hour special for HBO, which spawned the critically acclaimed HBO series that ran for eight seasons. In 2009, he starred in Woody Allen’s comedy, “Whatever Works.”  In 2010, he was honored with the WGA’s 2010 Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television.

As a comedian, DAVID STEINBERG, whom The New York Times has called “a cross between Woody Allen and Lenny Bruce” and “a comic institution all by himself…” is second only to Bob Hope in guest appearances on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show. He began his comedy career with Second City and influenced the careers of John Belushi, Bill Murray, John Candy and others who followed him there. In the ‘70s, David capped a prolific career as a stand-up comedian with four comedy albums, two Grammy nominations, and a successful nightclub act at the Bitter End in New York that catapulted him into television, both as a comedian and a writer. As a director, David Steinberg has executive produced and directed many episodes of Designing Women, Friends, Newhart, Seinfeld, Mad About You and most recently the hit series Curb Your Enthusiasm for HBO. His work on Seinfeld, Mad About You and Curb Your Enthusiasm has earned him several DGA and Emmy Awards and nominations. Currently, Steinberg has teamed with Steve Carell as Executive Producer and star of Inside Comedy, a comedy documentary series on Showtime, going into the third season in 2014. Steinberg interviews some of the biggest names in comedy from Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Martin Short, Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey, Steve Martin, Will Ferrell, Louis C.K. to Don Rickles, Mel Brooks and many more. And he completed his ninth season as a director on Curb Your Enthusiasm. The documentary on his career, “Quality Balls – The David Steinberg Story” has been acquired by one of the major networks.
