One of the landmarks of the Brooklyn Navy Yard is its 1851 Dry Dock No. 1, the third-oldest such facility in the country. We will explore the history of this dry dock, how it is still used today for ship repair, and we’ll even do a hands-on demonstration with a scale model to show and explain the mechanics of how the dry dock works.
