Mantra: Sounds Into Silence World Premiere and Live Kirtan with Charlie Braun

Joining your voice with others in chant can create a sense of communion—with yourself and with the people around you. Mantra: Sounds into Silence shares the stories of people who find healing and a sense of timelessness by singing mantras together with others who are also in search of inner peace. This film delves into both awareness through music and communal chant as a social phenomenon. It is about people reconnecting with their true selves through a shared experience.

This documentary features beloved kirtan artists Deva Premal & Miten, Krishna Das, Snatam Kaur, Lama Gyurme, Jai Uttal, and MC Yogi. It also tells the stories of others who discovered the practice of kirtan, and how over the years it transformed their lives, too. One scene features Brainwave alum Dr. Andrew Newberg who attests to the neurological benefits of the regular practice of meditation and chant.

To celebrate the world premiere of this film, this screening will be followed by a short Q&A with the filmmaker Georgia Wyss and kirtan with some participating musicians.
