Eugenia Bone went back to school in middle age to find out all she could about microbes—those organisms that can only be observed under a microscope. Attending Columbia University to study Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology she learned that the field is simply teeming with them. In her new book, Bone provides a broad but accessible overview of the role microbes play, and underscores their importance to the existence of everything on earth: atmosphere, soil, plants, and people.

Bone will be joined in conversation by Julie Wolf, Communications Specialist at American Society for Microbiology Science, followed by a Q&A.
