MOCATalks with Sophia Chang: The Baddest B*tch in the Room

In collaboration with Pearl River Mart – Korean Canadian music business matriarchitect Sophia Chang joins us to talk about her new memoir from Audible Original x Hello Sunshine, The Baddest B*tch in the Room, which chronicles her unique journey as the first Asian woman in hip-hop. She entered the music industry in the late 1980s, landing gigs at record companies like Jive and Atlantic, and managing artists like Wu-Tang clan members Ol’ Dirty Bastard, RZA, and GZA, as well as Q-Tip, A Tribe Called Quest, Raphael Saadiq, and D’Angelo. “Hip-hop embraced me, but Wu-Tang claimed me,” she says. “You know Wu Tang took this little Korean Canadian woman and they went: She’s ours.”
