The Nation at The New School: The Socialist Future

Over the last year, the Bernie Sanders campaign has ignited Americans’ interest in socialism. In The Future We Want: Radical Ideas for the New Century, edited by Sarah Leonard and Bhaskar Sunkara, young political thinkers offer solutions to today’s problems—everything from poverty to sexism to the environmental crisis—through the lens of socialist redistribution.

The Nation‘s John Nichols, author of The S Word: A Short History of an American Tradition…Socialism, joins a discussion with Leonard and Sunkara about American socialism in 2016 and its future after the Sanders campaign. The discussion will be moderated by The New School’s Julia Ott, Director of the Robert L. Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies. Audience questions and a book signing will follow the conversation.
