The New Yorker Festival | John Goodman Talks with Lawrence Wright

John Goodman is a film and stage actor, and will appear on Broadway this October in a revival of “The Front Page.” Goodman won a 1993 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role on the television show “Roseanne.” He has also starred in the films “Raising Arizona,” “The Big Lebowski,” “O Brother Where Art Thou,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Argo,” “The Artist,” and many others, and was featured on the HBO show “Treme.”

Lawrence Wright is an author, screenwriter, and playwright, and has been a staff writer at The New Yorker since 1992. He has received two National Magazine Awards, and his 2006 history of Al Qaeda, “The Looming Tower,” won the Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction. His book about Scientology, “Going Clear,” was adapted into an HBO documentary by the director Alex Gibney, and earned three Emmy awards. His most recent book, “Thirteen Days in September,” began as a play, “Camp David,” which premièred at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., in 2014.
