A year ago, in September 2011, Occupy Wall Street grabbed the attention of the nation by encamping in Lower Manhattan and attempting to change America’s political and economic discourse. Join us for a conversation to reflect on the first anniversary of OWS, with historians, activists, and observers. Panelists, including distinguished journalist and sociologist Todd Gitlin, author of Occupy Nation (It Books/Harper Collins, 2012) and former president of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), writer Nathan Schneider (New York Times, Harper’s), and others, will assess the vitality of OWS, its shifting strategies and locations, and its new focus on debt and housing.
