One for the Road: Drunk Driving Since 1900

Listen to Public Health Historian Dr. Barron Lerner talk about the phenomenon of drunk driving in the United States and efforts to control it. Some topics he will explore: 1) the tension between respecting the civil liberties of Americans and protecting the public’s health, 2) the relative leniency of American drunk driving laws, 3) the rise of MADD and other activist groups in the 1980s, 4) the role of industry in promoting alcohol abuse and 5)the relationship of binge drinking to drunk driving.
