The Right Hand of the Occupy Wall Street Movement

Many activists think that any talk of Far Right involvement in Occupy was a “smear” by mainstream media, based on a lone man with a sign. In truth, although it was a largely Left-leaning event, Occupy had a Right-wing of 20+ groups and prominent individuals who were white nationalists and Nazis, antisemites, conspiracy theorists and anti-Federal Reserve activists. This ranged from a national coalition which made a push for abolishing the Federal Reserve, to endorsements by David Duke and David Icke, to Nazis who came to one Occupation brandishing AR-15 rifles.

This multimedia presentation will document their presence, explain what drew them to Occupy, and show what they said about it. Last, it will ask what the implications are for today’s decentralized and amorphous mass movements, which welcome everyone and often target finance capital.

This presentation will take place at THE BASE, 1302 Myrtle Ave. (at Stockholm) in Bushwick, Brooklyn. For more information, visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/199719033571218/
