‘Spirit in the Night: Bruce Springsteen’s Greatest Show’ Webinar

Bruce Springsteen is justifiably famous for performing legendary, almost-four-hour concerts with The E Street Band, all over the world, for almost fifty years — but this show just might be his greatest!

On September 19th, 1978, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band performed what many fans and critics consider their single greatest show, at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. Why this particular show? Why does it not only stand out from all of the other amazing Darkness on the Edge of Town tour performances, but from Bruce’s entire performing career? There are many reasons — and it’s time to learn about them all.

Join New York Adventure Club as we embark on a virtual retrospective of Bruce Springsteen’s legendary Capitol Theatre performance 42 years ago, which will recreate the legendary concert in words, images, music, and video excerpts from the legendary show itself.

Led by Springsteen historian Arlen Schumer — who was art director of the first Springsteen fan publication, Thunder Road, and a longtime contributor to the current one, Backstreets — this curated video retrospective of Bruce’s greatest performance of all time will include:

  • An overview of Springsteen’s life and career leading up to the release of his fourth album, Darkness on the Edge of Town, and the subsequent tour
  • Why this particular concert sounds different (and better) than any other recording of a live Springsteen show to-date
  • What Springsteen had to prove that night to the largest audience of his career up to that point, made possible by the live radio broadcast from Maine to Florida!

Afterward, we’ll have a Q&A with Arlen — any and all questions about “The Boss” are welcomed and encouraged!

Can’t make it live? Don’t worry, you’ll have access to the full replay for one week!

See you there, virtually! $10.
