This Stops Today: Gwen Carr with Piper Anderson

Eric Garner’s mother shares her story.

After the death of her son at the hands of New York City police officers on Staten Island went viral, Gwen Carr’s life changed forever. In her new memoir, This Stops Today, Carr recalls her son’s life and death, and reflects on her newfound role as an activist in the fight for racial equality. A retired New York City Transit train operator and one of the Mothers of the Movement, Carr’s story is that of a family, a community, and a woman who now speak for those who no longer can.

Carr will speak about her memoir and her efforts to draw attention to the treatment of of minorities by law enforcement with Piper Anderson, cultural organizer and founder of Create Forward LLC.
