Thomas Dyja’s New York, New York, New York

In his latest, critically acclaimed book, New York, New York New York, Mr. Dyja recounts the excesses and underbelly of New York’s high and low society, as well as a fascinating, often surprising study of how the city became what it is today—for better (the stronger economy, cleaner public spaces) or worse (gentrification, police brutality). According to Ken Auletta, “Dyja paints a wry, entertaining, and important portrait of New York City over the past half century. Offering vibrant detail and a vivid cast of characters, his is a pointillist portrait that makes a clear point: change is the dominant melody of this city.”
