Trolley Tour Celebrates the Pioneering Women of Green-Wood
Explore the fascinating lives of the pioneering women of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries who are now interred at Green-Wood, from the first black female doctor in New York State, Susan Smith McKinney Steward, to the first woman to sing on live radio, Eugenia Farrar. Additional remarkable and inspiring stories include Caroline Weldon, a widowed Brooklyn artist who traveled to the Dakota Territory to become an assistant and liaison to Sitting Bull; Camilla Urso, the first woman violinist to perform solo in the United States; Isabella Goodwin, the first female detective in, among others.
