Ended: Ticket Giveaway to a Talk at Guggenheim Museum
[php snippet=1]
As a fellow Thoughtlectual, we are offering a pair of complimentary tickets to attend a one-time lecture on American artist Robert Motherwell with art historian Catherine Craft, Ph.D., Tearing Off and Beginning Again, and enjoy a reception following the talk.
On view now through Jan. 14, the Robert Motherwell: Early Collages at the Guggenheim Museum on Manhattan’s Upper East Side features nearly 60 artworks by the American artist from the 1940s and early 1950s and honors Peggy Guggenheim who was an early patronage of the artist.
By cutting, tearing and layering pasted papers, Motherwell reflected the tumult and violence of the modern world. The exhibition was first presented at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice this past summer and reached its second and final venue, the Guggenheim Museum, last month.
Delve into Motherwell’s works of art with art historian Catherine Craft, Ph.D., the adjunct assistant curator for research and exhibitions at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas, at Tearing Off and Beginning Again. This lecture focuses on the relationship between artistic and editorial processes through Motherwell’s treatment of paper.
Tearing Off and Beginning Again
- When: Tuesday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m.
- Where: Guggenheim Museum, Peter B. Lewis Theatre
- An exhibition and reception follow the lecture.
