Rizzoli Bookstore, HarperCollins, and The Architectural League of New York invite you to celebrate the publication of City Squares: Eighteen Writers on the Spirit and Significance of Squares Around the Word with a conversation between Catie Marron, Michael Kimmelman, and Reed Kroloff. A book signing and reception will follow.
This collection includes essays from eighteen renowned writers, including David Remnick, Zadie Smith, Rebecca Skloot, Rory Stewart, and Adam Gopnik, who evoke the spirit and history of some of the world’s most recognized and significant city squares, accompanied by illustrations from equally distinguished photographers.
Catie Marron‘s career has included investment banking, magazine journalism, and public service. She is currently Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of Friends of the High Line, a trustee of The New York Public Library where she was Chairwoman of the board for seven years, and a contributing editor of Vogue magazine. Her previous book was City Parks: Public Places, Private Thoughts.
Michael Kimmelman is the architecture critic for the New York Times and author of The Accidental Masterpiece: On the Art of Life and Vice Versa.
Reed Kroloff is an architecture educator and critic. He is a principal of jones|kroloff and the former Director of the Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum.
