As the wife of one of the nation’s most prominent founding fathers, Elizabeth Hamilton’s legacy has long been overshadowed by that of her husband. But, with the launch of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, Elizabeth’s contributions as a political advisor to her husband, founder of New York City’s first private orphanage (known today as Graham Windham), and preserver of her husband’s legacy are now being more widely recognized. Join Phillipa Soo, the actress who plays Elizabeth in Hamilton, Morgan Marcell, the show’s Assistant Dance Captain, and the scholar Carol Berkin for a conversation about Elizabeth’s lasting impact. In particular, the two will share how, inspired by Elizabeth’s work with children, they have launched “The Eliza Project” where members of the cast and crew serve as pen pals and give acting, dancing, and rap lessons to the children in Graham Windam.
