Face, Race and Power in New York Fashion

fashion talks nyc

Join author and supermodel Beverly Johnson for a frank and wide-ranging conversation with Andre Leon Talley about face, race and power in New York’s fashion industry. Johnson and Talley first met in the early 1980s, he as the first African-American creative director of Vogue magazine, and she, an international celebrity model—the first African American ever featured on the cover of American Vogue (in August 1974). They will discuss their formative experiences in the rarefied, elitist world of high fashion journalism and reflect on how their careers have continued to evolve since then.
