Family Astronomy Night

See the universe in a whole new light at our next Family Astronomy Night! By looking at radio waves, which are a form of light, not sound, astronomers can study the supermassive black holes in the center of galaxies. Rocket scientist and radio astronomer Summer Ash will share what radio telescopes have revealed to us about the universe. Join us for her illuminating talk, followed by stargazing with telescopes on the flight deck with the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York (weather permitting). Summer Ash is the director of outreach for Columbia University’s Department of Astronomy. She also serves as the “in-house astrophysicist” for The Rachel Maddow Show and has written for the Atlantic, Scientific American, Slate and Nautilus.
