Multimedia Talk on the Rooftop of the Sutton Place Synagogue

A lecture on the roof . . . sounds crazy, no? Well, on Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 at The Sutton Place Synagogue (225 East 51st Street, NYC) at 7:30 PM, theatre and film historian John Kenrick will offer a multimedia talk on Hollywood Yiddishkeit: Jewish Images in American Film. Held in the synagogue’s rooftop playground, this talk will use rare photos and video clips to tell the often surprising story of how Hollywood has depicted Jews and Jewish culture from the days of silent film up to the present.

Admission is $15 for non-members, and includes a dessert buffet. In case of extreme weather, this event will be held in the synagogue’s ballroom. Seating is limited, so reservations are suggested, and can be made by calling 212-593-3300.

Currently teaching at NYU Steinhardt and the New School University, John Kenrick pulls back the curtain and introduces audiences and students to the fascinating people behind show business legends. Author of Musical Theatre: A History, his website Musicals101.com introduces thousands of visitors to the legacy of stage and screen musicals.
