Nobel Laureate Dr. Eric R. Kandel to Deliver Public Lecture on Biology of Memory and Age-Related Memory Disorders
Miller Theatre at Columbia University
2960 Broadway at 116th Street
The Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute at Columbia University and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation will present a free public lecture by Nobel laureate Eric R. Kandel, MD, on “The Biology of Memory and Age-Related Memory Disorders.” Dr. Kandel will discuss recent advances in our biological understanding of normal memory and age-related memory loss as a distinct disorder from Alzheimer’s disease.
The lecture is part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Brain Insight Lecture Series, which was inaugurated earlier this year and will offer four public lectures by Columbia University scientists per year. The lecture series aims to address issues of broader societal importance in a manner that informs and engages the community. The series is a component of a broader partnership between the foundation and the Zuckerman Institute to enhance understanding of the biology of the mind and the complexity of human behavior.
