Strand and The Norman Mailer Center Present Mike Harvkey

Strand partners with The Norman Mailer Center for an evening with a talented new novelist.

Mike Harvkey’s debut novel is a brilliant examination of the dark side of contemporary American experience. In The Course of Human Events tells the story of Clyde Twitty, a young man living in a worn-down town in rural Missouri. Clyde falls under the influence of the charismatic Jay Smalls, a man who gives Clyde’s life a new sense of purpose, and sets him on a dangerous – and increasing morally disturbing – path.

Mike Harvkey’s writing has been praised by authors such as the acclaimed Dinaw Mengestu and has been called as “a timely portrait of 21st-century American malaise” by Mark Binelli.
