People Doing Math Live: The Shape of Story

The Strand’s Rare Book Room hosts a live recording of a serialized podcast about math, art, literature and everyday life. People Doing Math Live! is an unabashed celebration of the beauty, uncertainty and wonder of exploring a world expressed. This time around, these crazy creatives will discuss Kurt Vonnegut’s “prettiest contribution to culture”: his rejected master’s thesis on the shape of story. Vonnegut proposed the shape of a society’s stories is at least as interesting as the shape of its pots or spearheads. Let’s dive in! And get a little tipsy, too.

People Doing Math is a Brooklyn-based group of composers, political speechwriters, technologists, video designers, directors and writers, united by a common belief that math is an innately human experience and everyone is good at math.

This event is 21+ only.
