Children’s Philosophy Club – What Happens When We Die? An Afternoon with Children’s Book Author J.R. Becker

When he turned 34 and had two children of his own (Annabelle and Aiden), Becker noticed a dearth of children’s books that explained how the universe was formed and life evolved, so he decided to tell “once upon a time” stories about science to inspire a new generation of scientists, thinkers, and all-around adventurers. His first book, “The Story of Life” on evolution, was condemned by Christian World News, and became a #1 Bestseller on Amazon. Next came “Oh, The Things We Believed!” about critical thinking and “Worlds Within Us” about the big bang and the earliest stages of the universe. The texts consist of rhyming poems, and factual information is incorporated into the illustrations by Max Rambaldi.

Designed for children from 5 to 12 years, these books are conceived so that the older the readers are, or the more times they have looked at the text, the more will leap off the page and grab their attention. The back cover of “The Story of Life” comes with a WARNING! to potential buyers: “This book may cause children to develop curiosity, wonder, a thirst for knowledge, critical thinking skills, and a love for our planet and fellow creatures.” At this event, Becker will launch his latest book, “What Happens When We Die?”
