Exhibition Programs: Rethinking Othello with Tracy Chevalier

New Boy is Chevalier’s contribution to the Hogarth Shakespeare project, which solicits retellings of Shakespeare’s best works from acclaimed and bestselling novelists. The novel follows a diplomat’s son, eleven-year-old Osei Kokote, arriving at his fifth school in five years and quickly developing a relationship  with Dee, the school’s most popular girl. But one student, Ian, who can’t stand to see a friendship between a black boy and a white girl, aims to sever their connection.
