Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez is the surgeon responsible for the first-ever successful complete face transplant. Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez specializes in orthognathic surgery and microvascular craniofacial reconstruction. He completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center/ Albert Einstein School of Medicine in 1999 as well as a residency in Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital combined with University of Maryland Shock Trauma in 2003. From 2003 to 2004, Dr. Rodriguez practiced as a fellow of Reconstructive Microsurgery at The Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Taipei, Taiwan. He earned a D.D.S. degree from New York University in 1992 and an M.D. degree from Medical College of Virginia in 1995. He holds a B.S. in Neurobiology from University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. He is board certified in oral surgery and plastic surgery.

An Assistant Professor in the neuroscience department at Princeton University, Timothy J. Buschman’s research focuses on how the brain produces intelligent, rational, behavior. At the center of intelligent behavior is executive control – our ability to internally guide our actions towards a goal. His research aims to understand how the brain accomplishes such control, and with Dr. Rodriguez, he will discuss the balance between intentional vs. habitual guidance of actions while practicing the surgery.
