FashionSpeak Fridays: Tartan Talk

Tartan, the beloved symbol of the Scots, has evolved into the one of the world’s favorite fabrics. Join Jeffrey Banks, co- author of Tartan: Romancing the Plaid, and fashion designer Michael Kaye, the “Bonnie Prince of Tartan,” for an illuminating presentation.

Banks has earned a pair of Coty Awards, as well as the Cutty Sark Award for Outstanding U.S. Designer of Menswear and the Pratt Institute Award for Excellence.

Kaye is an award-winning designer with his own couture company. He has been featured in numerous publications and his designs are in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute and the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Before and after the presentation enjoy a one night only installation of couture tartan gowns designed by Michael Kaye.
