Lama Tsomo + Sharon Salzberg | Lineage: A Conversation

Sharon Salzberg and Lama Tsomo discuss the ancient concept of lineage and why it might be helpful for contemporary Americans. From the points of view of their respective Buddhist lineages (Theravada and Vajrayana), the speakers will explore the range of mentoring relationships, from spiritual friend to guru, as a touchstone for lineage. What do you do if you have a practice but no teacher? What if you have neither but have a longing to be truly happy?

The discussion will be followed by Lama Tsomo leading a Tibetan compassion meditation called Tonglen, after which she will sign copies of her newly released book Why Is the Dalai Lama Always Smiling?: A Westerner’s Introduction and Guide to Tibetan Buddhist Practice.
