New York Genealogical & Biographical Society Lecture Series: Finding Genealogical Treasure in the New York State Archives

From its earliest years, government in New York has involved itself in the lives of its residents. Whether through vital statistics, education, incarceration, military service, court actions or political activity, an amazing collection of voices of New Yorkers can be heard through the records in the New York State Archives. This session will provide information on some of the onsite and online resources available for family historians.

Kathleen Roe is the Director of Archives and Records Management Operations for the State of New York. A champion for researchers, she made possible the release of archival records, including the 1915 and 1925 NYS censuses, to Ancestry only upon guaranteeing that NYS residents would have free access to these records. Ms Roe is a member of the New York Family History School Board of Advisors.
