The People vs. Noah

In the Streicker Center courtroom, no one is above the law – not king nor prophet, matriarch nor patriarch. Abraham, King David, Moses and Eve all have faced justice in our courtroom. You are hereby subpoenaed to serve on the jury for case #5779:

Abraham protested when God threatened to destroy Sodom, and Moses objected when God threatened to harm the Israelites. Yet when God declared his intention to wipe out humanity in a great flood, Noah stayed silent, neither arguing with God nor warning his neighbors. When God told him to construct an ark and board it with his family and seven pairs of clean creatures, he simply obeyed. As a pious man, who was he to question God’s explicit orders?

Our proceedings will begin with a review of the facts of the case by Rabbi Norman J. Cohen, Ph.D. You will then enter the “courtroom,” where Joe Lieberman and Alan Dershowitz will serve, respectively, as defense counsel and prosecutor. Presiding over the trial will be the Honorable Michael Mukasey, former Attorney General of the United States, who will instruct you, the jury, on what you may and may not consider before you vote on Noah’s guilt or innocence.

Prosecutor: Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Professor of Law, Emeritus

Defense: Joe Lieberman, Former United States Senator from Connecticut and vice-presidential nominee

Judge: Honorable Michael Mukasey, former Attorney General of the United States
