Rosie Perez

Rosie Perez has come to be known for her defining appearances in such films as Do The Right Thing, White Men Can’t Jump and Fearless among others. Yet her path to artistic success was not a smooth one.

As a child growing up in Brooklyn, Rosie’s life was turned upside down when her mother, already mentally unstable, placed her in a Catholic group home. Shuttled back and forth between various family members and the horrors of the children’s home, Rosie’s childhood was chaotic and often frightening.

Undefeated by her traumatic experiences, she went on to seek out artistic self-expression in film and TV, and the hip-hop scenes of both New York and LA. In Handbook for An Unpredictable Life, Rosie looks back on the remarkable story of her journey and discusses her current accomplishments as an actress, dancer, choreographer and social activist.
