The Legacy of Alexander Liberman

Born in Kiev in the Ukraine before the 1917 revolution, the only Jew in his English boarding school, Alexander Liberman did more to change the appearance of magazines than any other designer.

The Vogue mastermind was responsible for the content, style and sometimes even the existence of Glamour, Vanity Fair, Details, Condé Naste Traveler, Mademoiselle and Allure. A sculptor, painter, photographer, draftsman, printmaker and writer, he was also a brilliant raconteur, and embraced at least seven lives in one. Lucy Sisman of Allure moderates a panel of designers and art directors who had the privilege of working and learning from him.
